Smoke Or Fire are Joe – Vocals, Dave – Drums, Ken – Bass and Jeremy – Guitar, a Punk Rock four-piece from Richmond, Virginia, home to other Punk greats such as Avail and Strike Anywhere.  This Sinking Ship is the follow up to the guys 2005 release Above The City, also on FAT.  Just before recording the album, the bands long-time drummer Nick was forced to leave the due to family issues.  After this the band recruited Dave Atchinson of the much missed From Ashes Rise as the bands new drummer.

Smoke Or Fire play fast, catchy, melodic hardcore that will have you hooked after just one listen.  Since the release of the guys debut they have been on tour with the likes of The Lawrence Arms, The Casualties and Anti-Flag to name a few and tales of being a band forever on tour come through in their lyrics.  The lyrics are another thing that made me fall in love with this record, taking on topics such as strained relationships, uncertain futures and countless drunken nights are something we can all relate and drink to. 

Produced by Matt Allison who’s worked with Alkaline Trio and The Lawrence Arms, there is not a dull moment on this record.  Stand out tracks for me are the brilliant Irish Handcuffs and Shine.  IF you’re a fan of Rise Against, The Loved Ones or The Lawrence Arms then check these guys out, you might just find you have a new favorite band.
