Label: Epitaph/Myspace Records

Punk rock veterans Pennywise are about to release their ninth album through Epitaph Records and as a free download with Myspace records. It was good to hear a new Pennywise album, as the last album I heard by them was About Time.  With Myspace being in picture I was afraid they might have softened their sound for mass appeal, but luckily this isn’t the case.

If you’re already aware or a fan of Pennywise then your not going to get anything new from this album.  It keeps to the Pennywise sound and lyrical content which I last heard although a bit heavier at some points.  Fletcher’s guitars are still as fast and churning out riff after riff of aggression and Lindberg’s lyrics and vocals as important as ever, pissed off and telling like it is.

The highlight of the album and single to be is the snide dig at our society, The Western World.  This is everything I was hoping for with this album.  Other stand out track is the opening track ‘As long as we can wait which kicks in after an edge of your seat intro.  This album is not as good as Unknown Road but a close contender.  If its fast skate punk you’re looking for this summer then check this out – It’s Free!
