Simply Luke Leighfield

(part of the Get Cape family)

BIO:
Luke was born in the glorious year of 1987, and first started pounding the ivories in 1991. He became a filthy rocker in 2000 after Kerrang! ordered him to like Green Day. Times changed, and in 2003 he formed Flatulent Mindy And The Badgers with some friends. They were succeeded by neitherbignorclever a few months later. Luke played a flower guitar in this band, and frequently stripped down at shows.

Roll on summer 2004, and Luke started writing songs on the piano, which were brought to life in ALOMO, an overblown piano rock band. Luke then turned into a pussy after listening to too much Ben Folds and pottered around, producing disgustingly lo-fi early demos.

In September 2005, Luke made his way down to Southampton for university (studying Music and English), where he played in country pop rock band, The Eldora Parade. He continued working on the Simply Luke Leighfield material, and began involving artists more talented than himself, in an attempt to drag the music up to a listenable standard. There are links to these people on the friends page.

At the end of this educational year, Luke was asked to play violin for erstwhile nu-folk troubadour Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. Ergo, he commenced a gap year from university in June 2006, and began piecing together a full band so that he could rock out and be heard above all the rude people who talk at his shows. That brings us up to the present, with a debut album expected in autumn 2006, full of a plethora of wholly unnecessary instrumentation and ultrapop key changes.

NEWS:
The debut album is out in late October and we're taking orders now on MySpace. As well as that we're touring living rooms in October, November and December, and playing throughout the new year.
