The Dream Weaver ep
Cardiff’s hip hop scene has been alive and well for as long I can remember. This mainly thanks to the dedication and commitment to the cause shown by all involved. Keltech and Johnny B feature strongly amongst the collective with the likes of DJ Jaffa, Paul B and Moneyshot to name but a few. A cast too big to name have created a “beats and rhyme” commuity to compete against any other you’ll find in the bigger cities around Europe.
DMC finalist Keltech and B Boy Johnny B have been busy creating they’re follow up to “The Name” that still fills house party cd players and record crates to this day. “The Dream Weaver ep” is a good reminder of what these two lads have to offer the UK hip hop scene with collaborations with the likes of freestyle rap world record holder Ruffstylz and Welsh rap legend Nobsta Nutts this ep was sure to attract attention. This is a real “from the floorboards up” recording with alot the beats being chopped and scratched by Keltech himself with Johnny B spitting his own beats over Keltech’s rendition of the Knight Rider theme tune.
With MTV Base using the title track in P Diddy’s “The making of the band” television programme and Will Smith strutting out onto to Oprah to the sounds of “Hyponotise” taken from the debut it doesnt really suprise you to learn that they’ve provided support for the likes of Ice T, Grandmaster Flash and Africa Bambaataa to name but a few. Johnny B’s ability to tell stories with such precision coupled with Keltech’s hip hop/jungle beats makes this another a must for any Uk hip hop listener. If you didn’t remember “the name” you will after this.
