Orchestra Of Wolves

Label: Warner Bros/Black Envelope Records

Since the original release of Gallows’ debut album ‘Orchestra Of Wolves’ on In At The Deep End Records last year, they have quickly become one of the biggest names in UK punk at the moment.  You can see why this may be as the band have become favorites on Radio 1’s specialist shows, favorites on Rock TV channels, recently finished a Headline UK tour aswell as playing at the world famous SXSW festival in Texas and due to play the 2007 US Warped Tour.  It’s these live shows that is gaining Gallows a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts around right now.

All this hype and attention has not been be missed by the major record labels, even they want a piece if the action.  Gallows have signed a deal for their own label Black Envelope Records through Warner Bros.

After the success of the single Abandon Ship, June 11th sees the re-issue of this already classic album.  12 tracks of pure energy, this sounds something like the early hardcore days of Black Flag mixed a modern twist of Refused.  Stand out tracks on this album for me were Six Years, the lengthy titled Just Because You Sleep Next To Me Doesn’t Mean Your Safe and the recent single Abandon Ship.  This track is just over 3 minutes of Gallows brilliance, although not their most brutal side, Abandon Ship is melodic yet still has the Frank Carter’s aggressive snarl which is what makes this song.

This re-release comes with a bonus CD, which includes session tracks recorded for BBC Radio 1 along with 2 new tracks; Sick Of Feeling Sick and Black Heart Queen.  And last but not least an almost identical cover of Black Flag’s Nervous Breakdown

So if you like your punk in the shape of The Bronx or Cancer Bats then these guys are well worth a listen.

Gallows have just announced another tour this September with an amazing line up of bands including metallic-hardcore greats Posion The Well and UK Hip-Hop’s Lethal Bizzle.
